Santilla Chingaipe

I am an award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia.

I spent nearly a decade working for SBS World News which saw me report from across Africa and interview some of the continent’s most prominent leaders.

Last year, I presented a one-off documentary for SBS, DATE MY RACE. My latest film, BLACK AS ME, explores the perception of beauty and race in Australia. I recently partnered with The Wheeler Centre to create and curate Australia’s first anti-racism festival, Not Racist, But...

My work explores contemporary migration, cultural identities and politics.

I'm currently developing several factual and narrative projects and writes regularly for The Saturday Paper and am a member of the federal government’s advisory group on Australia-Africa relations.
